It's true that consent is a mandatory part of intimate interactions here. That one must be respectful and mindful of what others want. I'd argue that comfort is a large part of that. If you make clear where you are comfortable, and where you are not, it becomes easier for your boundaries to be respected.

I personally would not be comfortable with a very large age difference, when it comes to physical intimacy, in either direction. It's better to state that up front for my own comfort, and also for the reassurance of others.

Not too long ago, I was the owner and manager of a nightclub in my home city. Before I rose to that level, however, I worked more menial positions: dishwasher, errand boy, keeping the books. I sometimes enjoyed the company of some of the young ladies who also worked there--nothing untoward, merely friendly conversation between coworkers.

I cannot tell you how often they expressed dismay at unwanted attention from a man significantly older than them. Perhaps I am, as you suggest, being overly cautious. But I wish to be mindful of the comfort of others as well.
